Sweet & Sweets, a food tech-based low-sugar, low-carb, and gluten-free F&B brand, has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' TIPS program.
Sweet & Sweets operates the low-sugar, gluten-free bakery brand "MAKJI," leading the K-wellness bakery trend that prioritizes healthy eating and the environment. Through this TIPS project, the company plans to develop an automated process based on air capture technology, ensuring consistent product quality, improving texture, and enhancing shelf life. Furthermore, the company plans to strengthen its clean-label, gluten-free, and low-sugar product lineup and explore global partnerships and distribution network expansion.
The TIPS program operates through a system where private investors identify and invest in startups with superior technologies, with the government providing R&D funding. Sweet & Sweets was ultimately selected upon the recommendation of Y&Archer, the TIPS operator.
With this selection, Sweet & Sweets will receive up to 800 million won in support, including 500 million won in research and development funds and 300 million won in commercialization and marketing funds over the next two years. This will help Sweet & Sweets build a global export-oriented frozen raw fish platform and expand its supply chain in overseas markets such as the United States, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
Yoo Song-hee, CEO of Sweet & Sweet, said, “With our selection as a TIPS company, we will accelerate our growth as an R&D-focused technology company and develop the Makji brand into a global K-wellness bakery standard.”
