Avis Co., Ltd. (CEO Daehong Lee), a company specializing in AI-based pathology analysis solutions, announced on the 5th that its AI research team (Geonwoo Noh, Kyungtae Min, Changhyeon Song) took second place in the UNICORN Challenge hosted by MICCAI 2025, a medical artificial intelligence conference.
MICCAI (Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention) is an international academic conference where experts and researchers in the field of medical artificial intelligence from around the world participate each year to share the latest technologies and research results.
This year's UNICORN Challenge, a global competition targeting AI companies and research institutions, evaluates the generalization performance and versatility of AI models. The Pathology Vision category, where Avis won second place, addressed a key competition in the field of pathology image analysis. This category assesses how accurately a single AI model can analyze data across a variety of organs, stains, and diseases without prior training, demanding technological capabilities that transcend the limitations of existing narrow AI, which is limited to specific diseases.
Lee Dae-hong, CEO of Avis, said, “It is meaningful that Avis’s unique foundation model technology has been officially recognized at MICCAI 2025, where world-class medical AI experts have gathered.” He added, “Based on this achievement, we will increase the accuracy and efficiency of pathology diagnosis and accelerate the commercialization of AI solutions that lead precision medicine innovation.”
