Jeong Young-seok, CTO of drone AI company NearLab, received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy at the "2025 Machinery and Robotics Industry Development Awards Ceremony." This award recognizes the contribution NearLab has made to the technological independence and competitiveness of the domestic robotics industry through its autonomous flight and artificial intelligence (AI) convergence technologies.
CTO Jeong Young-seok is a key figure in leading the research and commercialization of KAIDEN, a high-speed, hard-kill-based interceptor drone developed using Near Lab's proprietary technology. KAIDEN is a high-speed interceptor drone that neutralizes enemy drones by directly colliding with them mid-air. Its system uses AI technology to quickly and accurately identify targets, then collide with them at high speed to physically subdue them.
CTO Jeong was recognized for his contributions to the technological independence and competitiveness of the domestic defense robot industry by stably implementing this high-difficulty hardware-software fusion technology.
CTO Jeong Yeong-seok said, “I am deeply grateful that we were able to present new possibilities for autonomous drones using domestic technology,” and added, “We will continue to strive to ensure that the convergence of AI and robotics can lead to enhanced national competitiveness.”
