IL, a new technology materials company, announced on the 7th that it has completed approval for the construction of its third factory located in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, and will begin establishing a full-scale mass production system for next-generation battery materials.
This approval completes the administrative procedures for installing a lithium metal anode sheet mass production line using a site measuring approximately 4,423 m2 (1,340 pyeong), and completes the three-stage roadmap that IEL has pursued with the goal of entering the all-solid-state battery market: ▲technology verification ▲land acquisition ▲production infrastructure approval.
The newly constructed third plant will utilize dendrite suppression process technology to reduce explosion risks and serve as a key production base for the commercialization of lithium metal anode sheets. Materials produced at this plant will primarily target ultra-high energy density applications such as humanoid robots, aerospace mobility, and high-performance electric vehicles.
IEL has completed the practical application verification of the US patent (US 10,177,388 B2) that it received technology transfer from Gachon University last year.
An IL official stated, “The third plant is not simply an expansion of production facilities, but a strategic production base for entering the global market,” and added, “We will leap forward as a source material technology company that can lead innovation in the secondary battery, mobility, and humanoid robot industries.”
