Glassdom, a carbon emissions data management solution company, announced on the 11th that it has signed a contract with Samsung SDI to build a "Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)" solution. This collaboration is a strategic project aimed at proactively responding to the European Union's (EU) strengthened battery regulations and global automakers' supply chain carbon data demands. The goal is to digitalize the carbon data calculation and management system for all Samsung SDI products.
Glassdome integrates carbon data generated throughout the entire manufacturing process (Cradle to Gate) into its SaaS (Software as a Service) platform, collecting and analyzing it. This allows for automated calculation and reporting in accordance with the ISO 14067 international standard. This will enable Samsung SDI to track and manage carbon emissions across the entire battery production process in real time.
Glassdome's PCF solution automatically collects real-world data at each process stage and calculates carbon emissions at the product level. It also supports a flexible data structure that enables rapid response to EU battery regulations, third-party verification, and customer-specific reporting requirements. The solution has achieved both official certification for Catena-X, the European industrial data standard, and verification by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), the EU-ETS verification body, demonstrating its international reliability and interoperability.
Currently, Glassdom's PCF solution and consulting-based certification services are being utilized by major manufacturing companies such as KG Mobility, LG Electronics' Automotive Business Division, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Lotte Infracell, and Joil Aluminum.
According to market research firm Deloitte, the global carbon management software market is expected to grow by more than 12% annually through 2030, with the battery and automotive industries in particular showing the fastest adoption rates.
“The carbon regulations and supply chain transparency demands facing the global battery industry represent a structural shift across the industry,” said Ham Jin-ki, CEO of Glassdom. “Glassdom will actively support Samsung SDI in meeting the sustainability needs of its global customers through digital carbon management solutions based on international standards.”
