Energy and climate tech company Enlighten (CEO Youngho Lee) announced on the 20th that it had won the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Award at the 2025 Digital Innovation Awards.
Enlighten received high praise for its digital integration of small-scale solar power plant operations through its platform, "Power Generation King," and for establishing a foundation for systematically managing distributed energy resources.
The Korea Digital Innovation Awards is a government award hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT. It selects and awards companies and organizations that have contributed to the development of the digital economy and society through the development and convergence of ICT technologies.
Enlighten manages approximately 30,000 small-scale solar power plants (6.7 GW) nationwide through its Power Generation King platform. Power Generation King has digitized operational procedures, including real-time monitoring of power generation, abnormality detection and notification, and automated analysis of power sales and warranty periods, thereby improving power plant management efficiency.
The company is currently applying AI-based analysis technology to enhance its functions to quickly identify changes in power generation or signs of equipment abnormalities.
Enlighten is also digitally expanding the company's renewable energy procurement structure by linking operational data accumulated from Power Generation King to renewable energy trading areas such as direct power purchase agreements (PPAs) and power brokering. Power Generation King features a matching function that analyzes power demand characteristics and operating patterns of each power plant to select suitable power plants. Based on this, Enlighten has signed PPA agreements with companies such as Hyundai Motor Company and KT&G.
Kang Dae-ho, CTO of Enlighten, said, “This award is a recognition of our efforts to systematize the operation of small-scale power plants based on ICT,” and added, “We will strengthen the quality of our asset management services by increasing the precision of our power generation analysis and anomaly detection technologies, and lead the power trading market as a VPP operator based on our distributed resource operation capabilities.”
