Aegis Signs IoT Device Supply Agreement with Akaralife

Aegis (CEO Guseulgi), an online and offline integrated care platform company, announced on the 25th that it has signed an IoT device supply contract with AIoT specialized company Akaralife (CEOs Hyuncheol Kim and Sangheon Lee) and will begin building a smart care infrastructure to prevent lonely deaths and falls among the elderly living alone.

This year, South Korea entered a super-aged society, with the population aged 65 and older exceeding 10.51 million (20%). Single-person households account for 22.1% of all seniors, and the fall rate among these individuals was 9.2%, double that of the general population. Notably, 21.3% of single-person households aged 65 and older are classified as high-risk for lonely deaths, and the number of lonely deaths this year has increased by more than 10% compared to the previous year.

The government is expanding the integrated care system nationwide starting in March 2026 and expanding the distribution of ICT-based digital care equipment for early detection of emergency situations such as fires, falls, and cardiac arrest.

Through this contract, Aegis will introduce Akaralife's AIoT-based risk detection devices, including the FP2 occupancy sensor, smoke detector, and door open sensor. This will enable the company to build a smart care infrastructure that can detect real-time crises such as falls, fainting, wandering, fires, and water leaks in elderly people living alone, and immediately send alerts to guardians and caregivers. Since the delay in detecting falls in the elderly significantly increases the risk of serious conditions such as hip fractures, cerebral hemorrhage, and hypothermia, an early detection system is considered a critical, life-saving factor.

“The AIoT-based early detection system is a key technology that reduces lonely deaths, severe deterioration, and unnecessary increases in hospitalization costs,” said Guseulgi Aegis CEO. “It is the first step in building an open smart care platform that connects various IoT and AIoT devices without being tied to a specific brand.”

In addition to its technology-based safety system, Aegis offers specialized senior services, including emotional care, cognitive enhancement, pain relief and muscle strengthening exercise programs, and pain management medical devices, through its nationwide membership program, "SENI-UP," to home care facilities. This helps these facilities strengthen their expertise and increase revenue. Furthermore, Aegis is accelerating the expansion of the Korean community care ecosystem through integrated home care webinars, disease management training for caregivers, and startup information sessions.

In addition, Aegis is also developing a care-type recovery stay (tentatively named 'Comfort Bay') that combines AIoT safety technology with emotional, cognitive, and rehabilitation programs. It is a model where discharged and surgical patients can stay during a short recovery period, and aims to commercialize it in 2028.

“South Korea is one of the fastest-aging countries in the world, and care is no longer just a matter for families or facilities,” said CEO Guseulgi. “By combining AIoT technology with care expertise, we will create a new standard that allows even the elderly who live alone or are vulnerable to maintain a safe and dignified daily life.”
