Sentient Wins 2025 Minsky Awards 'AI Startup of the Year'

Sentient, a global open-source AGI project, was named "AI Startup of the Year" at the Minsky Awards 2025, held in Bengaluru, India. Hosted by Indian tech media outlet AIM, the award is an international AI award that annually recognizes outstanding projects based on innovation, research, and technological competitiveness.

Sentient's multi-agent orchestration framework, ROMA, has outperformed GPT-4o Search, Perplexity Sonar Pro, and Gemini 2.5 Pro in key benchmarks. The research team is narrowing the technological gap with global research institutions by having four papers accepted for NeurIPS 2025, the world's largest AI conference. Other notable research achievements include OML, a model fingerprinting and provenance verification technology, and ODS, an agent-based search framework.

As an open AGI project, Sentient aims to maintain an ecosystem in which anyone can participate and contribute, while addressing the accessibility and scalability limitations of closed models. Currently, Sentient is collaborating with over 100 Web2 and Web3 partners to build an open AGI network, providing a foundation for diverse developers to develop and expand AI services.

“We are working to ensure that AGI serves humanity, not just a specific company,” said Sentient co-founder Himanshu Thiaghi. “This award is a testament to our commitment to building an open and transparent AI system.”
