Smart agriculture solutions company Netogreen announced on the 27th that it signed a business agreement with Goyang City to expand and foster smart agriculture. Based on this agreement, Netogreen plans to conduct a "hybrid greenhouse" demonstration with the Goyang City Agricultural Technology Center and then build a smart farm industrial complex measuring approximately 10,000 pyeong (approximately 33,000 sq ft).
Goyang City has proposed the "creation of a 1 million pyeong smart farming zone" as its mid- to long-term goal. The phased plan includes expanding public-private partnership smart farms in 2025, designating smart farming zones in 2026, and establishing development plans for smart farm complexes and smart farm villages in 2027. This agreement is considered a practical implementation model for building both production bases and distribution platforms.
Netogreen plans to build a smart farm belt, linking urban indoor farms and rural hybrid farms, centered around its agricultural corporation in Goyang City. The company plans to establish 50 indoor farms, each measuring 30 pyeong (approximately 100 sq ft), within the urban Ji-Axis Knowledge Industry Center, securing a production capacity of approximately 15,000 pyeong (approximately 43,000 sq ft) equivalent to farmland. It also plans to expand its rural hybrid farms, starting with a 300-pyeong demonstration greenhouse and expanding to a 10,000-pyeong production base.
Under this agreement, Goyang City will expand the participation of local agricultural businesses and agricultural corporations, and provide administrative support, including permits and public relations. Netogreen will be responsible for the design, construction, and operation of indoor farms and greenhouse-type smart farms, and will collaborate with the Goyang City Agricultural Technology Center to conduct hybrid greenhouse demonstrations and R&D. After verifying energy efficiency and productivity through demonstrations, the city plans to develop the smart farm industrial complex into a large-scale production and distribution hub.
Goyang City plans to leverage Netogreen's popular plant factory technology and data-driven distribution platform to develop new income models for young, returning, and elderly farmers. If the hybrid greenhouse demonstration and the 10,000-pyeong industrial complex are successful, the city plans to use them as a key anchor for a 1 million-pyeong smart agriculture zone project, gradually expanding urban and rural smart farms.
