HyperExcel CEO Kim Joo-young receives the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award for his contributions to the fabless industry.

AI semiconductor startup HyperAccel announced that its CEO, Jooyoung Kim, received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award in the fabless industry category at the "2025 K-Fabless Tech Forum & 3rd Fabless Day" held on November 26th. This award is a government award that recognizes companies and individuals who have contributed to innovation in the fabless industry ecosystem and technological independence.

Since founding the company, CEO Kim Joo-young has been recognized for his contributions to strengthening Korea's fabless technology competitiveness by independently developing and successfully commercializing the LPU (LLM Processing Unit), a specialized LLM inference semiconductor. LPU, in particular, is attracting attention as a technology that reduces reliance on foreign GPU-centric infrastructure and lays the foundation for building a domestic AI infrastructure, based on its high-performance, low-power architecture.

The LPU architecture, optimized for large-scale language model inference, is evaluated as a next-generation semiconductor technology with high energy efficiency and price competitiveness, and its contribution to the formation of a domestic AI semiconductor technology self-reliance and digital transformation ecosystem is cited as a key background for this award.

HyperExcel is actively recruiting specialized research and engineering talent in the semiconductor and AI fields, contributing to the expansion of the talent ecosystem in these industries. By building a workforce of experts across AI semiconductors, system design, software, and platforms, HyperExcel is laying the foundation for sustainable growth in the domestic semiconductor industry.

The company plans to capitalize on this award by strengthening the development and commercialization of next-generation LPU technology, accelerating the expansion of the domestic AI semiconductor ecosystem and securing global competitiveness. CEO Kim Joo-young stated that receiving the Minister's Award is a significant achievement that demonstrates national recognition of the industrial value of domestic LPU technology, and that he will accelerate future R&D and commercialization.
