AST Selected as a "First Penguin Company" for Shinbo

ASET Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Seok-jeong), a company specializing in all-solid-state electrolyte membranes for next-generation secondary batteries, announced on the 3rd that it was finally selected as a 'First Penguin Company', an innovative startup scale-up program operated by the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund.

The First Penguin Program provides up to 4 billion won in guarantees and various non-financial support, and supports the commercialization and scale-up of innovative startups with high growth potential.

Since being selected for the 2024 Startup Nest program, ASAT has received systematic growth support from the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund's Incheon Startup Branch, including early discovery, guarantee issuance, technology commercialization guarantees, and direct investment from Shinbo. The Incheon Startup Branch played a key role in establishing the foundation for scale-up by early-on verification of ASAT's technological competitiveness and growth potential.

This First Penguin designation is significant because it formally recognizes the commercialization potential and global scalability of ASAT's next-generation solid-state electrolyte membrane technology for secondary batteries. Building on this recognition, the company plans to actively pursue mass production and market entry, including expanding its solid-state electrolyte capacity to over 10 tons, establishing a multilayer coating and slitting mass production line, and supplying proof-of-concept (PoC) and samples to global OEMs.

CEO Park Seok-jeong said, “The Korea Credit Guarantee Fund’s continuous support has been the engine behind the commercialization of ASAT technology,” and added, “We will lead the era of safe and high-performance batteries through mass production of all-solid-state electrolyte membranes and entry into the global market.”
