Smart factory company Cowintech (CEOs Jaehwan Lee and Hyunsoon Choi) announced that it has signed an additional contract to supply autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and assembly robots for ESS manufacturing lines to a global ESS manufacturer, following a contract it secured in September. The parties and the contract amount were not disclosed due to confidentiality reasons.
Through this contract, Cowintech will supply robots that assemble batteries and other components used in ESS into finished products, as well as AMRs that handle the entire manufacturing line, until the first half of 2026.
Cowintech announced that it has maximized manufacturing efficiency by designing a variable assembly robot that can assemble modules of various sizes, breaking away from the existing single-module assembly method.
A Cowintech official said, “We are securing continuous orders in the global ESS logistics automation market and establishing an unrivaled advantage,” and added, “We expect that ESS process automation robots will drive future performance growth through review of additional orders and expansion of process scope and supply regions.”
He continued, “Since the full-scale commercialization of AMR this year, robot orders have increased by 465.2% year-on-year, and we have also secured orders for mass production of new items such as the 4-Way Shuttle and hybrid stocker.” He added, “Next year, we expect that the proportion of robot orders will account for more than half with the full-scale commercialization of innovative logistics robots such as OHMS, MRS, and MRX.”
Meanwhile, Na Seung-doo, a researcher at SK Securities, said in a recent report, “Entry into the ESS manufacturing automation market is very significant, and as Cowintech is showing growth in the global ESS market and has secured a case study on establishing manufacturing automation, it is expected that global ESS-related companies will continue to show interest.”
