-Development of a participatory MICE carbon management model

Oh Doo-si Lab, an AI-based carbon data platform company, announced that it has successfully completed the '2025 Cafe Show MICE Carbon Footprint Demonstration Project (hereinafter referred to as the Demonstration Project)' hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization. The demonstration project is part of the 'TRVL-X Lab' hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization. 'TRVL-X Lab' selected eight companies this year as part of the 2025 tourism field problem-solving open innovation.
This demonstration project developed a platform for measuring carbon reduction and emissions tailored to the characteristics of the tourism and exhibition industry and applied it to actual exhibition sites. Carbon reduction and emissions were measured individually for visitors, participating companies, and operating organizations. 2,157 Cafe Show attendees used a multilingual mobile service to directly check their carbon emissions across seven categories, including transportation, meals, and lodging. Booth exhibitors utilized a business calculator that quantified over ten categories, including electricity use, booth structures, supplies, and logistics. The overall event's emissions status and reduction effects were visualized in real time through a web-based dashboard. Carbon data from operating organizations was collected and analyzed to produce a comprehensive "MICE Carbon Footprint Comprehensive Report."
In this project, the Ohmudusilabs applied a life cycle assessment (LCA)-based calculation model and quantitatively collected activity data from MICE sites, utilizing over 70 state-of-the-art emission and reduction factors. The key emission factors and calculation logic used in this demonstration underwent third-party verification by the Korea Climate and Environment Network, ensuring data reliability and public applicability.
Oh Gwang-myeong, CEO of Ohdushilab, said, "This demonstration is not simply about calculating emissions. It's a meaningful example, as it involves not only companies and operators, but also attendees. Going forward, we will expand the scope of application to include performances, exhibitions, and festivals, creating a standard model that can quantitatively manage the ESG performance of the MICE industry, which attracts a large number of attendees."
Meanwhile, Ohdusi Lab provides "Greenflow," an automated carbon accounting service for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners, and has completed over 100 LCA-based carbon emissions calculation projects. It is a climate tech company with the largest carbon data pipeline in Korea.
