Kibo Signs MOU with National Research Foundation of Korea

The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as “KIBO”) announced that it signed a “Business Agreement for the Diffusion, Utilization, and Collaboration of National R&D Achievements” with the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF, Chairman Hong Won-hwa, hereinafter referred to as “NRF”) at the National Research Foundation’s main building in Daejeon on Wednesday the 17th.

This agreement was established to establish a cooperative foundation so that excellent research and development results can be effectively transferred and commercialized to small and medium-sized enterprises by linking Kibo's technology transaction platform, "Smart Tech Bridge," with the National Research Foundation's information on excellent national R&D achievements.

Under the agreement, the two organizations plan to collaborate in various areas, including: sharing information on national R&D excellence; promoting these achievements through the Smart Tech Bridge; providing support for technology transfer and commercialization and linking technology financing; co-hosting seminars and workshops; and providing information on the results of these collaborations, including successful commercialization cases. Through these efforts, the two organizations aim to jointly promote the commercialization of national R&D achievements and enhance the technological competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

In particular, as a follow-up measure to this agreement, KIBO plans to establish a new menu titled “Inter-Ministry R&D Excellence Achievements” within the Smart Tech Bridge to more systematically promote excellent research achievements held by related organizations such as research foundations and expand opportunities for technology adoption by small and medium-sized enterprises.

Lee Sang-chang, CEO of Kibo, said, “Through this agreement, we have laid the foundation to increase the utilization of national research achievements and support the innovative growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.” He added, “Going forward, Kibo will actively support the commercialization of excellent national research and development achievements and the enhancement of technological competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises by strengthening cooperation with related organizations.”

Meanwhile, KIBO established the Smart Tech Bridge in December 2022, supporting AI-based technology matching recommendations, online electronic contracts, and linking applications for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' technology commercialization program. Recently, KIBO has expanded its role as a leading technology transaction platform for SME technology commercialization, including the establishment of the "M&A Transaction Information Network" to support M&A brokerage.
