JLK (CEO Dongmin Kim), a medical artificial intelligence company, announced on the 24th that its stroke AI solutions, 'JLK-ICH' and 'JLK-UIA', were selected as the 5th Public Procurement Service Innovation Products in 2025.
With this innovative product selection, JLK's stroke AI solution has established a foundation for more rapid expansion to public medical institutions such as regional medical centers, military hospitals, and national university hospitals nationwide through the Public Procurement Service's innovative product-specific public procurement track.
JLK has previously supplied stroke AI solutions to major public medical institutions, including Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Anseong Hospital and Icheon Hospital, and National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital. This innovative product designation is significant in that it enables expansion of public procurement beyond individual medical institutions to encompass medical institutions nationwide.
Public medical institutions will be able to implement these solutions using funds from the Public Procurement Service without incurring any additional financial burden, which is expected to lower the barriers to adoption of medical AI solutions. This is also considered to be in line with the government's policy of strengthening public healthcare, which aims to eliminate regional healthcare disparities and strengthen essential medical capabilities.
JLK-ICH is an AI solution that detects the presence and location of intracranial hemorrhage based on non-contrast CT images, while JLK-UIA is an AI solution that analyzes cerebral aneurysms in magnetic resonance angiography images. Both products are designed to support medical decision-making in emergency and triage settings and were selected as innovative products in recognition of their potential to create social and economic added value, including improved clinical efficiency and reduced medical costs.
If designated as an innovative product by the Public Procurement Service (PPS), the product will be eligible for public procurement through a negotiated contract for three years, and purchases will also be permitted through the PPS's dedicated online marketplace. This will allow JLK to access the public healthcare market without complex bidding procedures. Building on its experience in public hospitals, it will also establish a foundation for establishing a nationwide standard reference and promoting its expansion to private healthcare institutions.
Meanwhile, the Public Procurement Service (PPS) has announced plans to expand pilot procurement of innovative AI products starting in 2026. This initiative aims to foster a full-fledged public AI market by providing initial sales channels for AI products applicable across the public sector. This initiative is expected to gradually expand the adoption of innovative AI products in the medical field.
Kim Dong-min, CEO of JLK, said that the selection of this innovative product by the Public Procurement Service is significant in that it has secured an institutional foundation for expanding the stroke AI solution to medical centers nationwide, and that he will continue to expand the scope of use in hospitals with AI solutions that are in line with the policy of strengthening public medical care.
