The Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation held a meeting with Samkwang to discuss open innovation cooperation.

On the 18th , the Daegu Center for Creative Economy and Innovation held a collaborative meeting with Samkwang Co., Ltd., a mid-sized innovative manufacturing company, at its headquarters to discuss ways to foster shared growth with local startups through open innovation and secure new growth engines for Samkwang. Open innovation refers to a strategy where companies collaborate with external startups, research institutes, and others, rather than relying solely on internal resources, to discover and commercialize technologies and ideas.

This meeting was held as a follow-up to the "New Business and Promising Startup Discovery and Cultivation MOU" signed in May, and was organized to discuss specific implementation plans. The Daegu Center and Samkwang discussed various collaborative initiatives, including: participation in an open innovation program to discover new growth engines; fund investment plans to revitalize the regional investment ecosystem; identification and cultivation of promising technology startups; support for mutually beneficial manufacturing cooperation and technology commercialization; and development of a roadmap for AI-based robotics companies.

In particular, Samkwang has participated in the Daegu Center's 'Open Innovation Meetup' program four times in the past two years, discussing collaboration possibilities with approximately 30 startups, and has expanded its base of cooperation by interacting with promising technology-based startups nurtured by the Daegu Center, such as Big Wave AI and Geo Robot.

An official from Samkwang Co., Ltd. stated, “This meeting was the starting point for connecting Samkwang’s field-oriented manufacturing capabilities and the Daegu Center’s innovation network into practical business cooperation,” and added, “We will strive to become a partner in the growth of startups in the future.”

Han In-guk, the head of the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center, said, “This meeting was a chance to specifically discuss the possibility of cooperation between local mid-sized companies and startups,” and added, “We will continue to create examples of shared growth and win-win cooperation through open innovation.”
