"Returnies," a returns management solution operated by Liternol Co., Ltd., invested in by the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, ranked first in the final presentation evaluation of the 2025 DATA-Stars project and received the Minister of Science and ICT Award. DATA-Stars is a data utilization and commercialization support program hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency. It selects outstanding companies through a comprehensive evaluation of their data-based technology, business performance, and growth potential.
In the evaluation, Liternol received the highest rating among participating companies, receiving high scores across all categories: service development, data added value, marketability, and future prospects. The company highlighted its vision AI-based automated return inspection data collection and analysis technology, its ability to leverage large-scale return images, its success in reducing return disposal rates, and the potential for expanding its data-driven reverse logistics and commerce CX solutions as key strengths.
"Returnies" inspects all returned items at its inspection center and uses vision AI to convert damage location and cause into standardized data. This allows e-commerce sellers to quickly assess the status of returned inventory and efficiently decide whether to resell, refurbish, or dispose of it. The system has also shown results, reducing the return disposal rate from an average of 25% to around 6%.
Yoon Dae-geon, CEO of Returnnol, said, “Winning first place at Data Stars and receiving the Minister of Science and ICT Award is the result of official recognition of the industrial value of the return data that Returnnol has accumulated in the field,” and “We will prove that returns are not a cost but an asset that can be recovered through data.”
