Naraspace selected as one of the "2025 Defense Industry Innovation 100" companies.

Naraspace , a global microsatellite total solution company, announced on the 16th that it was selected as one of the '2025 Defense Industry Innovation Companies 100' hosted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the Defense Technology Advancement Research Institute.

The 'Defense Industry Innovation 100' project selects and intensively fosters 100 outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies in five major defense-advanced strategic industries, including space, semiconductors, AI, drones, and robots.

Naraspace was selected for this project due to its technological prowess and feasibility in the areas of space threat response, space surveillance, and optical surveillance. In particular, the company's currently developing space asset monitoring and protection technology utilizing microsatellites is attracting attention as a strategic technology that could contribute to the establishment of a space-based surveillance system, a technology currently lacking in Korea.

The technology focuses on developing active satellites that continuously protect friendly satellites in orbit and monitor for unusual approaches or threatening behavior from foreign satellites in real time. The company utilizes a satellite platform that has undergone space environment validation and is designed to link with ground-based surveillance systems to enable continuous observation of critical national space assets and response to threats.

With global conflicts like the recent Russo-Ukrainian War and the emergence of space assets as a key component of military strategy, the threat of space-based attacks, such as anti-satellite interception and radio jamming, is becoming a reality. Existing ground-based surveillance systems alone are inadequate for responding to situations within orbit, making securing independent space surveillance capabilities a key national security priority.

Microsatellites have a short production cycle, are low-cost, and can be operated in clusters, enhancing real-time information gathering capabilities and battlefield resilience. Therefore, they are considered effective in national defense space strategies.

Through this selection, Naraspace will secure up to 5 billion won in technology development funding over the next five years, access to specialized support programs for defense innovation companies, and comprehensive support for R&D and exports. This support is expected to accelerate its dominance in the space defense market and accelerate its global growth.

Kim Min-sik, head of the business development division at Naraspace, said, “This selection as one of the 100 Defense Innovation Companies is significant in that it officially recognizes Naraspace’s space defense technology,” and added, “Based on the government’s full-cycle support, this will be an important turning point that will allow us to fully enter the defense market and simultaneously pursue sales expansion and business area expansion.”
