Kuntec Wins the 2025 K-Aerospace Open Innovation Award from the Korea Aerospace Administration

DX security specialist company Kuntec (CEO Bang Hyuk-jun) announced that it received the Director of the Korea Aerospace Administration Award at the '2025 K-Aerospace Open Innovation' hosted by the Korea Aerospace Administration and organized by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), the Research and Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation, Jinju Gangseo Special Zone (Kyungsang National University), and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.

The 2025 K-Aerospace Open Innovation Awards Ceremony was held at the Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) headquarters on November 26th. This open innovation project identifies innovative ideas based on KAI's identified technology needs in the space, aviation, AI, and autonomous driving sectors. Selected companies are then supported with technology validation, joint development, and investment opportunities. This year, three companies were selected as finalists, with Kuntec receiving high praise for its proposal of a digital twin-based virtual flight environment development technology for the aviation sector.

In this project, Kuntek was recognized for its technological competitiveness by presenting a digital transformation plan for aviation software utilizing its virtualization-based vECU (virtual electronic control unit) development and verification platform, FastVLabs. FastVLabs provides a digital twin development environment based on Level 4 full virtualization technology, enabling flight control software execution and verification without actual hardware. Its key feature is that it reduces dependence on physical equipment and enables the execution of operational flight programs (OFPs) without binary modification, thereby increasing development efficiency and test reliability.

The winning company, Kuntec, will receive various support, including KAI commercialization funding, joint R&D matching, strategic investment review, and follow-up growth programs from the Special Zone Foundation, Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and Gyeongsang National University. The Korea Aerospace Science and Technology Administration (KASA) plans to support the selected companies' overseas exchanges and participation in international programs, thereby strengthening their global competitiveness in private space and aerospace technology.

With this award, Kuntec plans to advance its digital twin-based simulation technology in the aerospace sector, centered around Fast V Labs, and expand new business opportunities through collaborations between industry, academia, and research institutes. Bang Hyuk-jun, CEO of Kuntec, said the award is official recognition of the company's technological competitiveness in aviation software development and verification, and that by strengthening Fast V Labs-based verification and joint development, Kuntec will accelerate the digital transformation of the entire industry.
