ARGOS Identity (CEO Wonkyu Lee), an AI-based identity authentication platform company, announced on the 25th that it has provided its non-face-to-face customer verification (eKYC) service 'ID check' to the overseas remittance platform Utransfer.
This collaboration represents a proactive response to the government's Overseas Remittance Integrated Management System (ORIS) and the transition to passport-based eKYC. This has enhanced the automation of identity verification and regulatory compliance across the remittance industry.
The government is establishing the Office of Foreign Exchange Risk (ORIS) to strengthen foreign currency outflow monitoring and integrate remittance limit management. Starting in January next year, the government plans to integrate remittance history across non-banking sectors, including banks, fintech companies, credit card companies, and securities firms. Accordingly, remittance companies' customer identity verification (KYC) and foreigner identification systems will transition from the current Alien Registration Number-based system to one based on passport numbers.
Utransfer has introduced ARGOS' AI-based, non-face-to-face identity verification service, "ID check," to enhance security during the passport and alien registration card authentication and passport image collection process, and to minimize unnecessary manual work during the KYC process. This has enabled the company to establish an accurate and fast, non-face-to-face identity verification process for all its multinational customers.
ARGOS's solution recognizes over 4,000 types of ID cards and passports and offers forgery detection, facial recognition, OCR, and duplicate account blocking. It also complies with global privacy laws, including GDPR, helping financial and platform operators meet regulatory requirements.
'ID check' is an all-in-one identity authentication service based on an end-to-end integrated architecture, maximizing Utransfer's operational efficiency and providing a fast and flexible linkage environment.
ARGOS Identity CEO Wonkyu Lee said, “Passport-based non-face-to-face identity verification is a key infrastructure that not only responds to regulations in the overseas remittance industry, but also enhances service reliability and efficiency.” He added, “Our collaboration with Utransfer is a representative example of meeting the ORIS standards, and we will continue to provide customized authentication solutions to various industries.”
