
AI and cloud company Megazone Cloud announced that it held a seminar titled 'Quantum × AI: The Next Frontier' with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) at the Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul on the 19th. Hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the event was attended by approximately 200 experts from industry, academia, and research to discuss the possibility of integrating quantum computing and AI technologies and industrial application strategies.
The seminar covered not only research results but also practical application cases and technical challenges, sharing diverse perspectives on the impact of quantum AI across industries.
In his welcoming remarks, Choi Jang-won, Director of the Policy Strategy Division at KISTI, emphasized the need to foster an open quantum AI ecosystem, saying, "Together with Megazone Cloud, we are building a foundation for utilizing quantum technology in the industrial and public sectors." Representative Hwang Jeong-ah of the Democratic Party of Korea said, "As a forum for cooperation to discuss quantum machine learning and the development of AI infrastructure, I hope this will contribute to securing national technological competitiveness."
MegaZone Cloud Chairman Lee Ju-wan said, “Based on our cloud and AI capabilities, we are pursuing technological expansion into the quantum AI field,” adding, “Quantum computing and AI are technological axes that promote mutual growth, and we will serve as an execution hub that connects them to industry and society.”
In the presentation session, industry experts shared technology application cases and prospects.
PharmCAD CEO Woo Sang-wook explained, "Quantum computing-based AI is becoming a tool that complements the limitations of existing AI in high-difficulty computational fields such as new drug development." IonQ Senior Engineer Kim Sang-hyeop stated, "Integrating quantum computing into AI workflows has the potential to alleviate data inefficiency and energy cost issues and enhance overall model performance." Ahn Do-yeol, Professor Emeritus at the University of Seoul, emphasized, "Human resource development and policy foundations are essential for building a Korean-style quantum AI ecosystem."
