Wayvis Signs Contract to Supply RF GaN High-Power Amplifiers to Indian Defense Company

Waybis (CEO Min-seok Han), a company specializing in RF (radio frequency) gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors and defense, announced on the 13th that it had signed a contract worth $2.06 million (approximately 2.9 billion won) to supply RF GaN semiconductor-based high-power amplifiers (HPAs) to a leading Indian defense company.

This contract involves integrating Wayvis' RF GaN-based HPA into an anti-drone system for electronic warfare (EW) equipment deployed along India's border. This mass production order is a follow-up to the successful completion of a development project signed in July, demonstrating Wayvis' technological prowess and product reliability.

Anti-drone technology is gaining global attention as a key defense system to counter the increasingly sophisticated drone threat. According to global market research firm Grand View Research, the anti-drone market is projected to grow from approximately $2.45 billion in 2024 to $10.58 billion in 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27.2%.

High-power amplifiers based on RF GaN semiconductors are key components for anti-drone systems capable of long-range, high-precision response, and technological competitiveness is considered a key factor in determining market share. Amidst the recent deepening global supply shortage of RF GaN semiconductors for advanced weapon systems, India's defense industry strengthening policies and demand for the modernization of older equipment are accelerating the acquisition of related technologies.

A Wayvis official said, “This contract was concluded in recognition of our technological prowess from a leading defense company in India, and there is a high possibility that it will lead to additional large-scale projects in the future,” adding, “This will further strengthen Wayvis’ position in the global defense market.”
