This event, co-hosted by the Korea Bearing Industry Association and Yeongju City Hall, was attended by representatives from industry, academia, and research institutions related to the bearing industry, including Acting Yeongju Mayor Yoo Jeong-geun and Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Director Kim Jong-hyung. The 4th Korea Bearing Conference was also held at the same venue.
Since joining Schaeffler Korea in 1991, Director Baek Seung-ho has served as Production Team Leader and Bearing Components Division Manager for 34 years. His leadership has led initiatives such as: improving the productivity of large angular ball bearings and taper bearings; developing high-speed motor bearings for electric vehicles; developing new coated bearings and establishing a mass production system; and streamlining processes utilizing forging and heat treatment technologies. This award recognizes his contributions to the stabilization and competitiveness of the domestic bearing market.
In his opening remarks as honorary chairman of the Korea Bearing Industry Association, Lee Byung-chan, CEO of Schaeffler Korea, encouraged the award recipients, emphasizing that “with the industrial paradigm rapidly changing due to AI, mobility, and robots, the bearing industry needs to secure global competitiveness and respond to changes in population structure through high added value and introduction of AI factories.”
At the 4th Korea Bearing Conference held concurrently that day, Hyung-Man Cho, Director of Schaeffler Korea's Humanoid & Robotics Business Unit, presented on "AI Vision Inspection by Generative AI." Director Cho explained, "Generative AI is gaining attention as a key technology for smart factories, addressing the lack of machine learning data and enhancing the accuracy and stability of vision inspection."
Director Seung-ho Baek, the recipient of the award, said, “I am honored to be recognized for our efforts to develop the Korean bearing industry,” and added, “Schaeffler Korea will continue to contribute to the development of the domestic industry based on quality and technological competitiveness.”
