
TwelveLabs, Inc. , a startup developing multimodal AI technology based on global image understanding, announced on the 11th that it has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with LIG Nex1, a South Korean defense, space, and satellite company. The purpose of this agreement is to conduct technological cooperation and joint research to apply image understanding-based multimodal AI technology to the defense industry and space and satellite fields.
The two companies plan to integrate Twelve Labs' video understanding-based multimodal AI model technology into LIG Nex1's defense, space, and satellite system development, and jointly develop intelligent defense systems, image analysis, and decision support solutions. They plan to expand the scope of their collaboration to include joint research and development (R&D), pilot projects (PoCs), technology verification, and application model development.
A Twelve Labs official said, “This is a symbolic partnership that combines cutting-edge AI technology created by Korean developers with defense, space, and satellite technologies,” adding, “Twelve Labs’ technology, which analyzes massive amounts of image data, will be effectively applied in defense fields such as image surveillance, reconnaissance, and command and control.”
He added, "We expect that Twelve Labs' AI technology and LIG Nex1's digital transformation roadmap will combine to create optimal synergy, and we plan to expand our cooperation through joint research and development and pilot projects."
