Telepix is an official sponsor of the Space Exploration Semiconductor Workshop.

TelePIX (CEO Seong-ik Cho), a comprehensive space AI solution company, announced on the 5th that it will participate as an official sponsor in the 'Space Exploration Semiconductor Workshop' co-hosted by Yonsei University's Future Semiconductor Research Institute and Research Office.

The Space Exploration Semiconductor Workshop is a specialized event dedicated to space semiconductors, with participation from industry, academia, research institutes, and government agencies. It will be held on the 7th at the 3rd Engineering Building on Yonsei University's Sinchon Campus, and will focus on the "Current State and Future of Semiconductor Technology for Space Exploration."

This event will be attended by Yonsei University, Telefix, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS), Samsung Electronics, Hanwha Aerospace, and QRT, who will discuss the direction of development of next-generation semiconductor technology optimized for the space environment.

Semiconductors for space exploration are attracting attention as core infrastructure for all space missions, including satellite control, communications, and observation sensors. Existing commercial semiconductors have limited durability and radiation resistance in the extreme space environment, making the development of dedicated semiconductor technology and high-reliability memory essential. Demand for space semiconductors is expected to continue to grow, particularly with the expansion of the private-sector-led space industry.

This workshop aims to identify research agendas that align with the national space development strategy and to strengthen collaborative networks among academia, industry, and research institutions.

Telepix will participate as a sponsor and present on "Development of GPU-based Satellite Edge AI Solutions and Current Status of On-Orbit Operations." Last year, Telepix launched its GPU-equipped AI processor, "TetraPLEX," into orbit, enabling satellite-based AI processing and edge computing.

Tetraplex is a hybrid space-specific AI processor that combines an ARM-based CPU manufactured using a 5nm process, a 100 TOPS GPU, and an FPGA (programmable gate array). Furthermore, the company has independently developed a high-resolution optical payload, including a radiation-resistant semiconductor image sensor and signal processing circuitry, securing technological competitiveness in the space observation field.

Kim Seong-hee, CTO of Telefix, who participated as a presenter that day, said, “Space semiconductors are a national strategic technology and a key field that will change the future industrial paradigm.” He added, “Through this workshop, we will strengthen Korea’s competitiveness in space semiconductor technology and, based on our experience in operating Tetraplex in orbit, contribute to the development of next-generation semiconductors for space exploration.”
