
Edtech startup Freewillin (CEO Kwon Ki-seong) announced on the 4th that it has appointed Jeong Jae-hoon, former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of My Real Trip, as its new CTO. This appointment is a strategic move aimed at enhancing the entire process of creating and managing learning content by strengthening its technological competitiveness, centered on artificial intelligence (AI).
CTO Jaehoon Jeong is an expert with over 20 years of technical leadership at major IT and platform companies, including Naver, Coupang, and My Real Trip. At Naver, he developed high-traffic services like search, store, and LINE, ensuring system stability and operational efficiency. At Coupang, he oversaw the service architecture transformation and common platform construction, spearheading the company's transition to a Micro Service Architecture (MSA) and cloud.
As CTO at My Real Trip, he spearheaded the development of a data-driven decision-making system and enhanced service architecture. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he rapidly transformed the platform into a comprehensive travel service through technological transformation, driving the company's growth by achieving a 12-fold increase in transaction volume and a turnaround to profitability.
At Freewillin, CTO Jeong Jae-hoon plans to focus on enhancing the technical sophistication of core services such as "Mathplat," "Schoolplat," and "Pulicampus" based on AI content automation technology, while also enhancing the learning data infrastructure. Through these efforts, Freewillin will pursue AI technology innovation and secure service stability, enabling it to leap forward as "the world's largest educational content company."
CTO Jaehoon Jeong said, “AI technology is not just a means of reducing the gap in education; it is a technology that opens a new path for teachers and students to grow together.” He added, “We will enhance Freewillin’s massive learning data with AI to bring about real change in the field of education.”
With this appointment, Freewillin plans to focus on integrating core technologies such as automatic math problem generation, similarity analysis, content classification, and recommendation systems by advancing AI content automation technology, and building an educational environment that enhances teachers' work efficiency.
