Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun), in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Content Agency (President Tak Yong-seok), will host the "2025 Uijeongbu Innovation City Startup Challenge" at Uijeongbu Culture Station on November 14th. This event, which integrates key projects promoted by the Northern Gyeonggi Cultural Creation Hub throughout the year, will serve as a platform for innovation for young people and startups.
The event consists of four sections: ▲Uijeongbu City Administrative Infrastructure Technology Verification (PoC) Demo Day ▲Gyeonggi Northern Cooperation University Startup Competition ▲Design Awards ▲Northern Gyeonggi Cultural Creation Hub Integrated Exhibition and Investment Consultation Meeting.
The main event, the "Uijeongbu Innovation City Startup Challenge," will feature a final round themed "Ideas that Change Lives, Startups that Change the World." Five startups that made it through the preliminary round—Kangdan Studio, BSK IT, Sigmain, Prismobus, and Picureit—will present technology verification projects aimed at revolutionizing Uijeongbu City's administration and public services.
The sub-event, the 'Northern Region Startup Competition', is a stage where students and young entrepreneurs from 7 out of 12 partner universities in northern Gyeonggi Province (Kyungmin University, Kyungbok University, Daejin University, Dongguk University, Seoyoung University, Shinhan University, and Cha University of Science and Technology) participate and present their startup ideas.
At the 2025 Design Solution Lab Design Awards, six participating young designers will present designs utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI) on the theme of northern Gyeonggi Province's identity. This work, combining AI technology with creative visual expression, will showcase new possibilities for regional design.
Finally, the "Northern Gyeonggi Cultural Creation Hub Integrated Exhibition" will showcase the hub's key project achievements this year. The exhibition will feature results from the Design Solution Lab, products and content developed through early-stage startup support, and makerspace creations. Visitor experience zones and AR photo booths will also be available. Hub-resident companies will also receive consultations on support projects from relevant organizations and receive accelerator and investor mentoring.
A Gyeonggi Province official said, “This challenge is a stage where young entrepreneurs and innovative companies in northern Gyeonggi Province come together to show their future possibilities,” and added, “We hope that their challenge will lead to innovation in public services and become an opportunity to create changes that citizens can feel.”
