Emerson Korea (CEO Jae-seong Jeong), a global technology and software company, announced on October 22 that it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vincen Co., Ltd. (CEO Chil-hwan Lee), a company specializing in eco-friendly ships and marine propulsion systems, to develop an integrated control solution for a megawatt (MW)-class hydrogen fuel cell system.
This agreement was signed at the 'KORMARINE 2025' shipbuilding and marine industry exhibition held at BEXCO in Busan from October 21st to 24th.
Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to jointly develop an integrated control solution suitable for high-power hydrogen fuel cell systems and advance technology for the commercialization of marine fuel cell systems. In particular, the key goals of this agreement are to expand modular fuel cell systems for large commercial vessels (such as container ships, oil tankers, and LNG carriers) requiring propulsion power exceeding 10 MW and to enhance control efficiency.
Emerson Korea and Vincen plan to jointly promote energy transition and technological competitiveness in the marine sector by integrating control, measurement, and safety functions, including automation controllers, measuring instruments, and valves, into a solution to enhance system integration and maintenance efficiency.
Emerson Korea supports the entire process from design to operation and maintenance of ships and offshore plants, based on integrated control solutions spanning the marine and energy industries, including industrial automation, digital twins, and predictive maintenance technologies.
Vincen has secured type approval from major domestic and international classification societies (KR, RINA, ABS, etc.) for its 100kW and 250kW marine hydrogen fuel cell modules, and is currently pursuing type certification for its MW-class fuel cell system. Furthermore, based on its marine electrification platform, which integrates various technologies such as hybrid battery control, power conversion, and fuel management, Vincen is continuing to expand its technology beyond ships to special-purpose vessels.
“This agreement will serve as an opportunity to accelerate automation and digital transformation in the eco-friendly marine industry,” said Jeong Jae-seong, CEO of Emerson Korea. “Through collaboration between our two companies, we will contribute to building sustainable marine energy solutions.”
“We expect that the combination of Vincen’s fuel cell technology and Emerson’s control solutions will result in a more stable and scalable marine eco-friendly propulsion system,” said Lee Chil-hwan, CEO of Vincen.
