Rainbow Robotics (CEO Lee Jeong-ho) , a robotics platform specialist, announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with physical AI platform company Disspector (CEO Eum Byeong-chan) to collaborate on a quadrupedal patrol robot project. This agreement aims to jointly develop and commercialize autonomous robot-based solutions in the patrol, security, and field management sectors, leveraging the technologies and capabilities of both companies.
Under the agreement, Rainbow Robotics will be responsible for the development, production, and maintenance of quadrupedal robots, while Disspector will be responsible for planning and operating patrol and safety management solutions utilizing these robots. The two companies will collaborate in the following areas: joint development and verification of robot-based patrol solutions; establishment of a stable supply system; product improvements based on market response; and joint promotion and sales efforts to expand the business.
As the first step in this collaboration, the two companies have launched an autonomous patrol robot demonstration project at the Korea District Heating Corporation's Suwon Eco-friendly Energy Improvement Project construction site. Disspector is the main contractor for this project, and Rainbow Robotics' quadrupedal robot will perform autonomous patrols 24/7. The autonomous patrol system is designed to comprehensively perform construction site safety management functions, and a customized program is being developed to ensure the robot's maneuverability and stability even on complex terrain such as stairs and steps. The demonstration is scheduled to take place at the Suwon construction site in November.
This project marks the first time a quadrupedal robot has been introduced to a domestic public enterprise construction site, and is considered a turning point for digital-based public infrastructure management. Through this demonstration, the two companies plan to verify the feasibility of quadrupedal robots in the field and expand the technology to various industries, including construction, infrastructure, and security.
“Through our collaboration with Disspector, we have the opportunity to apply our quadruped robot technology in real-world industrial settings,” said Lee Jeong-ho, CEO of Rainbow Robotics. “Through this project, we will expand the scope of robot technology utilization in the public and industrial sectors and strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic robot industry.”
