Oceans Bio Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Hyun-woong), an electronic pharmaceutical development company, announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nanal Day and Night Care Center in Namdong-gu, Incheon, to support elderly people with cognitive impairment. This agreement is part of the "Practical Research and Development Project for Independent Living Assistance Devices for the Disabled and Elderly," a three-year, KRW 1 billion project supported by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.
Under the agreement, Oceans Bio will provide cognitive training solution services for elderly people with mild cognitive impairment and jointly conduct field verification of a research and development project to commercialize assistive devices for independent rehabilitation of the disabled and elderly.
The cognitive training solution currently under development by Oceans Bio combines electronic pills (based on taVNS) and digital content, unlike existing single-use cognitive training methods, to simultaneously improve cognitive function. This is expected to contribute to dementia prevention and independent rehabilitation in the elderly.
The Nanal Day and Night Care Center is a medium-sized senior welfare facility located in Namdong-gu, Incheon. It accommodates approximately 150 residents and provides comprehensive care services for seniors, including exercise, rehabilitation, counseling, and daily living support. A center representative stated, "We anticipate this collaboration will provide practical assistance to elderly people with cognitive impairment, and we anticipate synergy between the center's caregiving capabilities and Oceans Bio's technological prowess."
Oceans Bio CEO Lee Hyun-woong said, “In an aging society, mild cognitive impairment is a major social issue, and this collaboration is the first step toward bringing technology and care together,” adding, “We will make a real difference in improving cognitive impairment in the elderly and preventing dementia.”
