On October 14, the Gyeonggi Content Agency (President Yong-seok Tak, hereinafter referred to as Gyeonggi Content Agency) signed a business agreement with three universities in the province at the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center to establish a mutually beneficial ecosystem for the game industry.
This agreement aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the gaming industry in Gyeonggi Province and promote the shared growth of industry and education. Gyeonggi Science and Technology University, Shingu University, and Hanshin University participated in the agreement, and Gyeongconjin will now establish a cooperative system with eight universities, adding to its existing five.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kwon Soon-min, Director of the Future Industry Headquarters at Gyeonggi Science and Technology University, Choi In-dae, Director of the Admissions Office at Gyeonggi Science and Technology University, Lee Dong-won, Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group at Shingu University, and Moon Cheol-soo, Vice President of Hanshin University, who discussed mutual cooperation plans.
The universities participating in the agreement will participate in the Gyeonggi Game Public-Private-Academic Cooperation FGT (Focus Group Test) Support Project, launched by the Gyeonggi Game Promotion Agency (KMPA), starting in the second half of this year. This project is an evaluation program that helps small and medium-sized game developers assess user feedback and identify areas for improvement before releasing new games.
Participating students will experience unreleased games from small and medium-sized game developers in the province for two weeks, providing feedback on bugs and fun elements. This allows developers to improve quality at a low cost, while students gain hands-on experience with the actual game development process and strengthen their practical skills.
Gyeonggi Province’s Future Industry Headquarters Director Kwon Soon-min said, “Through this agreement, we have laid the foundation for young talents in the province to grow into new players in the gaming industry,” and added, “We will continue to expand industry-academia cooperation to support the continued growth of the Gyeonggi Province gaming industry.”
