SBVA CEO Lee Jun-pyo and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman discuss cooperation in the Korean AI ecosystem.

SBVA (SBVA) CEO Lee Jun-pyo announced that he met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman at the SBVA office in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 1st to discuss ways to develop the Korean artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem.

This meeting featured a diverse exchange of opinions, focusing on the potential for collaboration between Korean startups and OpenAI. CEO Lee Jun-pyo stated, "SBVA plans to continue supporting Korean startups to become competitive on the international stage by collaborating with global tech companies like OpenAI."

Meanwhile, SBVA, founded in 2000 as SoftBank Ventures Asia, a venture capital firm under the SoftBank Group, has made early-stage investments in numerous domestic and international startups, including Lunit, Carrot Market, and Upstage. In June 2023, it was acquired by Singapore-based investment firm The Edgeof and became independent, managing approximately KRW 2.5 trillion in assets. It currently supports over 100 portfolio companies worldwide, continuing its global investment activities.
