Robotics media content specialist Sanghwa Co., Ltd. (CEO Beomjun Jeong) announced on the 24th that it was selected as a new participating company in the 'K-Humanoid Alliance' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT).
The K-Humanoid Alliance is Korea's largest humanoid robot development cooperative, built on collaboration between industry, academia, and research. The government and private sector are investing over 1 trillion won by 2030 to develop world-class humanoid robots. Major research institutions, including Seoul National University, KAIST, Yonsei University, and POSTECH, as well as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK, POSCO, HD Hyundai Robotics, and Rainbow Robotics, are participating.
Through this collaboration, Sanghwa plans to focus on developing practical, field-applicable humanoid solutions. Specifically, the company plans to develop: a humanoid robot capable of performing docent duties in exhibition halls; an animatronic actor robot for use in theme parks and entertainment; and a humanoid F&B service system for 24-hour unmanned customer service based on robot barista technology.
This selection is considered a recognition of Sanghwa's accumulated expertise in robotics and media content convergence. Sanghwa has been conducting R&D projects related to urban smart factories and robot control technology in collaboration with Rainbow Robotics, Hyundai Robotics, and Seoul National University's Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology. The company has also successfully commercialized robot attractions, robot baristas, and the AI robotics studio "DEEPEYE."
Sanghwa CEO Jeong Beom-jun said, “Through this participation in the K-Humanoid Alliance, we have the opportunity to prove Sanghwa’s technological prowess through a national project,” and “We will strengthen our global competitiveness by developing practical humanoid solutions that can communicate and provide services naturally to people in actual fields.”
