Promedius Selected as a "Scale-Up Tip" by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups

Promedius (CEO Bae Hyeon-jin) , a startup developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology for aging and metabolic diseases, announced on the 16th that it was selected for the ‘SCALEUP TIPS’ technology startup support project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.

Scaleup Tips is a private-sector-led program that discovers promising startups and matches them with government-funded research and development (R&D) funding to support their growth into unicorns. Promedius was selected upon recommendation from Woori Venture Partners and will receive a total of KRW 1.14 billion in R&D funding over the next three years.

Through this project, Promedius plans to develop an "AI platform for predicting and monitoring aging and metabolic diseases based on a chest X-ray foundation model" in collaboration with Seoul Asan Medical Center. The core of the research is to build a medical platform where AI can analyze chest X-ray image data to predict key aging indicators such as osteoporosis, coronary artery calcification index, and biological age, and monitor disease progression based on this data.

Aging and metabolic diseases are emerging as major health issues in major countries, including Korea, which has entered a super-aged society. However, current screening systems have limitations in early identification of asymptomatic high-risk individuals. Accordingly, Promedius plans to address this issue by leveraging AI analysis technology based on chest X-rays, a common tool in medical settings.

Through this project, Promedius aims to expand its existing osteoporosis screening AI technology to the areas of cardiovascular disease and biological age assessment, and to commercialize related technologies. Specifically, the company plans to pursue global market entry by obtaining domestic and international approvals (MFDS, FDA, CE), securing intellectual property rights, and conducting clinical trials.

Bae Hyun-jin, CEO of Promedius, said, “In a super-aging society, healthy aging is emerging as a challenge for the entire society,” and added, “Through this research and development, we will complete a next-generation medical AI platform that supports healthy aging and secure competitiveness in the global healthcare market beyond the domestic market.”
