Comprehensive market research company Korea Research Co., Ltd. announced on August 28 that it signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen joint research and industry-academia cooperation’ with the KAIST Art & Technology Center (KATEC).
Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to pursue ongoing exchanges and collaboration based on a variety of research topics and strengthen interdisciplinary research that considers potential applications in industrial settings. Both parties aim to explore new models of industry-academia cooperation by linking academic research with industrial applications.
KATEC is a multidisciplinary, convergent research organization within the Graduate School of Culture Technology at KAIST. Led by Professor Jinjun Lee, the TX (Total Experience) Lab focuses on research in creative AI (Creative AI) and new media communication that combines art, science, technology, and the humanities. It hosts global seminars and is actively engaged in various international collaborative projects.
Through its Innovation Division, Korea Research has been providing customized research solutions across the entire product and service development cycle for various industries, leveraging its global UX (User Experience) research and usability evaluation capabilities. In particular, its experience in operating overseas projects and its multinational local research network enable it to conduct sophisticated global research.
Through this agreement, the two organizations will conduct integrated, collaborative research that organically combines technology, design, and research. Specifically, they plan to jointly develop a research model that links philosophical insights with UX-based empirical data, centered around a shared vision of "Total Experience."
“This collaboration will allow us to build a unique research model that connects theory and practice,” said Kang Deok-yong, head of the Innovation Division at Korea Research. “We anticipate a new level of research that goes beyond the realm of UX research and combines philosophy, art, and technology.”
KATEC Center Director Lee Jin-jun said, “Convergence research in the AI era is redefining the boundaries between culture and technology,” and added, “This agreement will serve as an opportunity to establish a foundation for international-level cooperation based on practical synergy between industry and academia.”
