AI medical communication platform company Wise AI (CEO Song Hyeong-seok) announced on September 2 that it has acquired a technology patent, “Outbound personalized chatbot system combining medical institution EMR software and RPA technology (Application No. 10-2024-0194114),” which can provide AI services to all medical institutions regardless of the hospital’s electronic medical record (EMR) system.
This patent allows WiseAI to secure new customers from hospitals that previously had difficulty accessing its services due to data integration restrictions from existing EMR providers. Domestic AI medical solution companies have historically struggled with data integration due to security concerns raised by EMR providers, hindering the adoption of AI services by EMR-using hospitals.
After a year of in-house technology development, WiseAI independently developed EMR-specific RPA technology and screen recognition AI-OCR technology to address the costs and localization issues associated with existing partnerships with existing RPA vendors. Based on these technologies, WiseAI has established an independent system independent of EMR vendors.
The core of the patented technology is a personalized outbound chatbot system. It securely extracts patient EMR data using RPA technology, then automatically generates and deploys a customized chatbot tailored to each patient's medical history and situation. Unlike conventional, blanket notifications or marketing strategies, this system differentiates itself by providing personalized communication, including regular checkup information, post-procedure follow-up care, and personalized health advice.
This patent acquisition allows Wise.AI to operate a more sophisticated, personalized patient management system tailored to each hospital. With improved EMR data accessibility, hospitals can now send targeted outbound calls and text messages to specific patient groups. For example, a patient who underwent implant surgery six months ago can be notified of their regular checkup, or a customer who has undergone cosmetic procedures can be contacted one month afterward for follow-up care. Wise.AI currently operates 18 AI outbound templates for dental care and four for plastic surgery and dermatology, with plans to expand this to a total of 37 templates by the end of the year.
WiseAI CEO Song Hyeong-seok explained, "We can now provide our service to hospitals that previously had difficulty directly integrating with their EMRs due to security issues. Furthermore, the EMR integration process has been shortened from two to three months to less than a month." He added, "This will be a significant stepping stone for expanding our market share in AI solutions by securing clients from previously difficult-to-access hospitals."
