Startup support organization Decamp (CEO Park Young-hoon) announced that it held an 'Open Innovation Event for Excellent Patent-Based Startups to Enter Public Procurement' jointly with the Public Procurement Service and the Korean Intellectual Property Office at Decamp Seolleung on August 27th.
This event was designed to connect startups' innovative technologies with the public procurement market, which is worth 200 trillion won annually, and to support the creation of tangible commercialization results.
D.Camp has provided diverse support to startups seeking to enter the public sector, signing business agreements with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) in 2019 and the Public Procurement Service (PPS) in 2024. Notably, at the last d.day event, 80% of participating startups successfully secured investment, and some companies entered the public sector through R&D and proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives.
At this event, six startups, including ▲Mobwheel ▲Viewion ▲Aisphera ▲Ecoin Energy ▲Cliqa ▲TR, participated, each presenting their technological prowess and having a Q&A session with procurement and patent professionals and venture capitalists.
As a result of the evaluation, the Public Procurement Service Commissioner's Award went to **Viewion (CEO Hee-young Yoon)**, which presented smart window film technology, and the Patent Office Commissioner's Award went to Mobawheel (CEO Min-hyun Kim), which developed an AI-based road safety sensor.
These award-winning companies will be given priority consideration for future D-Camp placement programs and will also benefit from follow-up projects (subsidies, exhibition participation, etc.) from the Korean Intellectual Property Office and the Public Procurement Service.
In addition, participating companies attracted attention by presenting technologies in various fields, such as public IT security (Aisphera), waste plastic processing technology (Ecoin Energy), AI model lightweight solution (Cliqa), and respiratory disease precision diagnostic device (TRL).
Through this event, Decamp has practically confirmed the potential for startups to enter the public procurement market through public-private partnerships, and plans to continue serving as a bridgehead for technology-based startups to enter the public market.
Meanwhile, Decamp is currently recruiting startups for its fifth batch of Decamps, and will provide selected companies with opportunities to attract up to 1.5 billion won in investment, 18 months of space, mentoring, and opportunities for domestic and international business collaboration.
