Ibis Co., Ltd. (CEO Nam Ki-mo), a vehicle mobility software company, announced on the 28th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for technical cooperation with Unicore Robotics Co., Ltd. (CEO Kang Chang-mook), a robot mobility specialist company, for the 'development of an integrated control system for autonomous driving personal mobility.'
This agreement is intended to respond to the growing demand for autonomous driving and control technology as the personal mobility market expands, and the two companies plan to pursue ▲development of autonomous driving and control technology based on personal mobility ▲joint development of a mobility-control linkage interface ▲establishment of a technology exchange and cooperation system.
Based on its automotive embedded software technology, iBis has supplied its vehicle software and data platform, "Alton," to companies such as Hyundai Motor Company, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Mobis. Recently, the company has expanded its business into the mobility services sector by developing "iFMS," a cloud-based control solution that integrates and controls heterogeneous robots and mobility equipment.
Unicore Robotics specializes in autonomous robots, leveraging dynamic modeling, adaptive control algorithms, and SLAM technology. It has undertaken a variety of mobility projects, including autonomous wheelchairs. Its technological capabilities have been validated through demonstrations with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Hyundai Motor Company, KT, and the Seoul Museum of Art.
The two companies have previously collaborated on joint projects, including patrol robots for Gwanak-gu Office and multipurpose mobile robots for the libraries of Gyeonggi Province and Incheon National University. This MOU will further flesh out their technological collaboration and commercialization strategies. Specifically, by integrating Ibis' control system, "iFMS," with Unicore's autonomous driving technology, the two companies aim to improve operational efficiency, enable real-time monitoring and control, and implement data-driven optimization technologies for personal mobility.
Currently, the two companies are pursuing joint development and business cooperation centered on large-scale projects such as apartment complexes and airports, and are in discussions with the goal of signing a concrete contract within the year.
“As personal mobility becomes more widespread, the importance of integrated control technology is increasing,” said Ibis CEO Nam Ki-mo. “Through this collaboration, we will strengthen our technological competitiveness for stable and efficient mobility services.”
“As the scope of personal mobility robots is rapidly expanding, organic linkage between advanced autonomous driving technology and control systems is essential,” said Kang Chang-mook, CEO of Unicore Robotics. “We will create new market opportunities through differentiated technological convergence.”
