The Korea Artificial Intelligence & Software Industry Association (Chairman Cho Jun-hee, hereinafter KOSA) announced on August 21st that it will launch the ‘Japan Entry Council’ with the participation of a total of 16 companies at the association’s headquarters in IT Venture Tower, Garak-dong, Seoul, and will begin supporting domestic artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW) companies to enter the Japanese market.
This council was launched as part of the "Large-Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Joint Market Entry Council Project," hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Foundation for Large, Small, and Agricultural Cooperatives. Through this project, KOSA, the operating organization, supports AI and software companies entering the Middle East, Japan, and the US markets. Following the Middle East Market Entry Council held in June, a US Market Entry Council is scheduled to be launched in the second half of the year.
At a meeting held following the council's inauguration ceremony, I-Corporation CEO Yeom Jong-sun and TmaxSoft Vice President Koh Seong-ho each presented on the current state of the Japanese market, market entry strategies, and actual market entry cases. Their presentations covered digital transformation trends in Japan, key considerations for market entry, and the expertise and experience of leading companies.
The ensuing discussion covered Japan's digital and AI transformation, the current status and expansion plans of domestic AI and software companies in Japan, and the development of joint market entry strategies. Companies hoping to expand into Japan, including Euracle, Furiosa AI, Everyzone, and Megacareer Lab, participated and shared practical market entry strategies and cooperation plans.
KOSA plans to strengthen networking and information sharing among companies through the council in the future, and to provide diverse support, including local market research, regulatory response, and business matching.
KOSA Chairman Cho Jun-hee said, “Japan has been undergoing a full-fledged digital transformation since the launch of the Digital Agency, and as the government has announced large-scale investments in the semiconductor and AI industries, this could be a new opportunity for Korean companies.” He added, “We will actively support successful entry into the Japanese market based on cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises and leading companies through the council.”
