L&F Signs Business Agreement with Wart Intelligence

L&F (CEO Choi Soo-an) , a global secondary battery comprehensive materials specialist, and Watt Intelligence (CEO Yoon Jeong-ho) , a patent vertical artificial intelligence (AI) company, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to introduce AI in the intellectual property (IP) field.

The signing ceremony took place on the 20th at the WortIntelligence headquarters in Seoul, with key representatives from both companies in attendance, including L&F Materials Development Research Center Director Jeon Sang-hoon and WortIntelligence CEO Yoon Jeong-ho. The agreement aims to address the growing demand for patent search and analysis within secondary battery comprehensive materials research and development (R&D) and to accelerate the transition to artificial intelligence in next-generation R&D environments.

Through this agreement, the two companies will jointly develop an AI-based intellectual property management system that will revolutionize and enhance the efficiency of the entire patent search and analysis process. Key collaboration areas include building and demonstrating a patent-specific Large Language Model (LLM)-equipped server, as well as evaluating and validating the performance of the developed technology. This will automate key processes, from prior art research to patent trend analysis in the secondary battery sector, thereby simultaneously improving both speed and accuracy.

Notably, this collaboration included building an on-premise AI system that integrates WortIntelligence's proprietary AI model with a domestically produced AI semiconductor NPU (Neural Processing Unit). This will allow L&F to operate patented data-based AI stably on a closed network server, reducing the risk of information leaks while saving approximately 400-500 million won in server construction costs. This achievement is expected to spread across the materials, components, and equipment industries, contributing to enhanced technological competitiveness and global market responsiveness.

The introduction of AI is expected to improve patent search efficiency by up to 95% and reduce per-person search time by approximately 45%. This time savings will be reinvested in high-value-added tasks such as additional patent analysis, risk management, and securing new patents, strengthening intellectual property management capabilities. After the demonstration, we plan to pursue long-term use reviews and collaboration on customized feature development and maintenance.

Both companies expect this collaboration to strengthen their AI technology leadership in the intellectual property field. WortIntelligence CEO Jeong-ho Yoon stated, "This agreement demonstrates that WortIntelligence's technology can contribute to R&D innovation. We will continue to apply our patent data-focused LLM to various R&D sites, proposing a new R&D paradigm."

L&F Materials Development Research Center Director Jeon Sang-hoon stated, “This partnership is a strategic collaboration to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights, a core asset of the secondary battery industry,” and added, “Through AI-based innovation, we will proactively respond to changes in the global market and promote industrial competitiveness and sustainable growth.”
