Cloud specialist Gabia (Co-CEOs Hong-Guk Kim and Jong-Hong Won) announced on the 20th that it has received certification as a 'Gwacheon-type GREEN company' from Gwacheon City. All affiliates including Gabia, KINX, Gabia CNS, Xgate, SPSoft, and Whois participated in this certification, formalizing the group's commitment to ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) management.
The "Gwacheon-type GREEN Company" program was established by Gwacheon City to encourage local companies to participate in ESG management and promote a carbon-neutral culture. It is part of the city's eco-friendly policy aimed at creating a "Gwacheon without disposable cups." Certification is awarded to private companies that voluntarily participate in eco-friendly activities.
Since relocating its headquarters to a new building in Gwacheon in 2023, Gabia has actively participated in local eco-friendly campaigns. In particular, through collaboration with the eco-friendly social venture "Trashbusters," the company introduced a reusable cup recycling system within the company and encouraged employees to use their own tumblers. These everyday practices were highly praised, leading to the entire group being included in the certification process.
Efforts to conserve energy are also underway in terms of technological infrastructure. Gabia has designed its data center in its Gwacheon headquarters to reduce annual energy consumption by approximately 30% by implementing a high-efficiency air conditioning system. A key strategy is to reduce carbon emissions by improving energy efficiency while operating high-power infrastructure optimized for AI computing.
Gabia plans to use this certification as an opportunity to further strengthen its ESG management. The company plans to expand sustainable practices linked to its core business, such as energy efficiency improvements based on cloud technology and eco-friendly data center operations.
Won Jong-hong, co-CEO of Gabia, said, “This certification is a meaningful result of our participation as a private company in Gwacheon City’s eco-friendly policies,” and added, “We will continue to practice ESG management together with the local community and create exemplary cases of sustainable growth.”
