Top Mobility Signs MOU with ZC Aviation

Top Mobility, a sustainable future aviation mobility company, announced on the 8th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Chinese UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) manufacturer ZC Aviation for the domestic introduction of large cargo drones.

The agreement follows a flight demonstration held at ZC Aviation's headquarters in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China. During the demonstration, ZC Aviation's cargo drone, the ZC500, performed one flight each in remotely controlled and autonomous modes.

The ZC500 can carry up to 260 kg of cargo, has a top speed of 160 km/h, and a flight time of up to 10 hours. Top Mobility and ZC Aviation plan to initially introduce two of these aircraft to Korea within the year and deploy them for forest fire surveillance and suppression missions.

Through this agreement, Top Mobility expects to establish a safer and more efficient wildfire response system by utilizing large drones that can replace existing helicopters. It is also exploring the potential for expansion into various fields, including logistics and emergency patient transport.

“Through our collaboration with Top Mobility, we aim to create a new business model in the aviation services sector in the Asian region,” said Huang Hai, CEO of ZC Aviation.

Top Mobility CEO Chan-young Jeong said, “We have verified the performance of the aircraft through a direct demonstration and confirmed the possibility of utilizing unmanned aircraft in high-risk missions where human intervention is difficult,” and added, “We will contribute to the creation of a sustainable air mobility ecosystem by launching the cargo drone business in earnest.”
