Gangwon Innovation Center concludes "Here and There Festival in Cheorwon"

The 'Here and There Festival in Cheorwon', hosted by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and Cheorwon County and organized by the Gangwon Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Lee Hae-jeong, hereinafter referred to as Gangwon Innovation Center), was held for two days from August 15th to 16th at the Cheorwon Hwagang Shri Camping Ground.

This event aimed to explore the potential of AI technology transformation in the tourism sector by demonstrating ideas developed by tourism startups and local creators on-site and piloting experiential programs for foreign tourists.

In particular, many new tourism contents utilizing the region's unique resources were demonstrated, and creative services based on Cheorwon's DMZ sensibility and natural environment were introduced. ▲Treasure hunt based on digital tourism map (Local Link) ▲Distance-based reward payment service (Yozem People) ▲Cheorwon tourist site virtual experience 3D viewer (Coral Labs) ▲Lightweight battery canoe demonstration (Cordless) ▲Youth camping and entertainment program (Uptown) ▲Experiential caravan/camping site (Makeworks Communication) ▲Food and beverage contents utilizing local specialties such as Cheorwon apple beer, desserts, and traditional liquor led to the participation of visitors on site.

This event also garnered attention for its inbound programs targeting international tourists. Activities such as the DMZ Bootcamp Experience (Tripsoda) and the AI-powered Cheorwon K-drama Tour (Ogang Korea) attracted tourists of various nationalities, generating positive responses on the ground and demonstrating the potential for global expansion of Gangwon tourism.

Some participating companies also showcased content utilizing AI technology on-site. These included natural terrain-based media façade content (Just Shoot), AI-based wellness reading travel curation (Youngvisa), and smart queue information content (Safers Content Innovation), providing an opportunity to experiment with the potential of AI transformation in the tourism industry.

Lee Hae-jeong, CEO of the Gangwon Innovation Center, said, "This event provided an opportunity for tourism startups to directly experience on-site reactions through a practical, evidence-based testbed." He added, "The integration of content targeting foreign tourists with AI-based technology is a meaningful achievement that points the way forward for the local tourism industry." He added, "We will continue to actively support the startup ecosystem to foster mutual growth among startups, regions, and technology."
