Seoul Technopark (operated by the Seoul Research and Development Support Center) announced that it will hold the '2025 Future City Seoul Science, Technology, and Industry Innovation Policy Idea Contest' from August 18 to September 17 to discover policy ideas in the fields of science, technology, and industry that will lead Seoul's future innovation.
This contest aims to discover customized innovation policy ideas that reflect the needs of Seoul and its 25 autonomous districts. Seoul Technopark plans to leverage its diverse experience in R&D research and analysis, strategic industry development, and policy planning to support the development of creative proposals into feasible policies.
The contest consists of five areas: ▲promotion of science and technology ▲fostering strategic industries ▲revitalizing the regional economy ▲solving regional and urban issues ▲other innovative policies. The strategic industry fostering area includes Seoul-type core R&D areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, bio-medical, fintech, and quantum.
Participants include Seoul citizens, Seoul Metropolitan Government and autonomous district officials, employees of companies and research institutes located in Seoul, and university students and students on leave of absence. Individuals or teams of up to three people can apply.
Awards will be presented in both the citizen and public categories, with the grand prize winner receiving a cash prize of 2 million won. Awards will also be presented in various categories, including the Grand Prize (1 million won), the Excellence Prize (500,000 won), and the Encouragement Prize (300,000 won).
The selected excellent proposals will be reviewed and linked to policy research and development projects for the following year and beyond. They will also be utilized as a practical basis for policy proposals for the Seoul Metropolitan Government and autonomous districts through follow-up activities such as drafting policy plans and developing research reports.
Since 2019, Seoul Technopark has been operating the Seoul Research and Development Support Center, strengthening the foundation of regional science and technology policy through analysis of Seoul City's R&D project performance, identification of strategic industry issues, and regional demand-based R&D planning. Starting in 2025, the center will focus on promoting regionally driven science and technology and industry.
