Kibo visits Smart Korea, a Kibo-Star Valley company in the Chungcheong region.

The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Chairman Kim Jong-ho, hereinafter referred to as “Kibo”) announced that on Wednesday the 13th, it visited Smart Korea Co., Ltd. (CEO Jang Chae-won), which was selected as a Kibo-Star Valley company in the Chungcheong region, to share the results of its support and listen to opinions from the field.

This visit was designed to directly assess the current status and challenges faced by Kibo-Star Valley companies and explore additional collaborative measures to facilitate scale-up efforts. The visit was attended by the head of Kibo's Chungcheong Regional Headquarters, the head of Kibo's Daejeon branch, the head of Hana Bank, and the CEO and executives of Smart Korea Co., Ltd. They toured the R&D department and manufacturing process and exchanged opinions.

Smart Korea Co., Ltd., established in August 2013, possesses high value-added porous carbon support manufacturing technology utilizing petroleum byproduct-based raw materials. Based on this technology, the company has expanded its business from activated carbon for water treatment to cathode materials for secondary batteries, taking the lead in the domestic production of carbon materials.

Kibo-Star Valley is Kibo's core scale-up support program that provides ▲preliminary guarantee limit (limit by stage from 3 billion won to 10 billion won) ▲preferential guarantee ratio (95%, for 3 years) ▲guarantee fee reduction (0.5%p, for 3 years) to innovative companies with excellent technological prowess and growth potential, according to the founding period and growth stage.

Jang Chae-won, CEO of Smart Korea, said, “We were selected as a Kibo-Star Valley company at a time when we were in the midst of full-scale construction of mass production facilities and subsequent technology development, which allowed us to secure funds in a timely manner and continue our growth.”
