Aegic Land signs a 16 billion won chiplet SoC design contract with US-based Primemas.

ASIC Land (CEO Jongmin Lee) , a company specializing in application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design, announced on the 12th that it has signed two design contracts worth a total of 16 billion won with Primemas, a US fabless company developing a next-generation chiplet SoC platform.

This contract includes design services for the CXL controller "Falcon-1," a core chipset for Primemas' chiplet SoC platform "Hublet®," and the FPGA chiplet "Kameleon." For this project, Aegicland will perform key processes, including backend design, verification (DFT), tape-out, and wafer processing.

'Falcon-1' is a chiplet-based SoC that enables high-speed connection to external memory and accelerators via the CXL 3.2 interface, and is designed to handle central control functions in server and edge computing environments. It features a structure that integrates security functions and various input/output ports. 'Kameleon', which is being developed simultaneously, is an accelerator SoC with a built-in eFPGA (embedded FPGA), and its advantage is that it can flexibly respond to changes in computational structures such as machine learning and encryption algorithms. The two chips are interconnected based on a die-to-die interface and form an integrated SoC platform utilizing a chiplet architecture.

The chipset development utilizes TSMC's 12-nanometer (nm) FinFET process. This process, which simultaneously achieves high-integration and power efficiency, is expected to provide optimized design solutions for high-performance computing applications such as data centers, edge computing, and robotics.

Primemas is developing an SoC platform that integrates the latest technologies, including CXL, ARM, and eFPGA, and is pursuing technology commercialization through collaboration with memory manufacturers and global hyperscalers.

Chiplet architecture is a design method that links individual chips separated by function as a single system. It has advantages in flexibility, scalability, and reusability compared to existing single-chip SoCs, and its adoption is increasing in the AI, server, and data center markets.

As an official partner of TSMC and Arm, Aegicland provides customized chip design, verification, and IP reuse-based design services through its proprietary "CFaaS (Chiplet Foundry-as-a-Service)" strategy. Through this agreement, Aegicland plans to further strengthen its technological prowess and business capabilities in the high-performance chiplet-based SoC market.

“This contract is an important opportunity for us to fully enter the chiplet-based next-generation SoC market,” said Jongmin Lee, CEO of Aegic Land. “We will not only secure high-performance semiconductor design technology, but also expand collaboration with global customers to strengthen our position as a competitive design partner.”
