The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced on the 23rd that it will announce the '2025 Startup Success Package Support Project'.
The '2025 Startup Success Package Support Project' announced this time consists of the 'Youth Startup Officer School', which selects young entrepreneurs with excellent startup items and innovative technologies and provides comprehensive support for programs necessary for the entire startup process, and the 'Global Startup Officer School', which selects entrepreneurs hoping to advance into the global market and provides intensive support for customized incubation programs utilizing global incubation institutions (accelerators).
◆ Youth Entrepreneurship Academy (850)
The target of support is a company whose representative is 39 years of age or younger and has been in business for less than 3 years (including prospective entrepreneurs). This year, the plan is to select 850 young entrepreneurs.
First, to enable young people to utilize the experience of middle-aged people with entrepreneurial history, etc., joint entrepreneurs of young people and middle-aged people will be included in the support target.
In addition, the fast track target will be expanded to ease the burden of evaluation on young entrepreneurs by exempting them from document screening during the selection evaluation (stage 2: document screening → presentation evaluation). Previously, the exemption from document screening was limited to companies recommended by institutions such as the Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, but from this year, CES award-winning companies, in-house venture companies independent from large corporations, and research institute startups affiliated with universities and public research institutes will be added.
In addition, the seven regional specialized youth entrepreneurship academies plan to select more than 50% of entrepreneurs operating in key regional industries.
Business applications and acceptance are processed at the local Youth Entrepreneurship Academy in the region where the applicant company is located. However, young entrepreneurs from all over the country can apply for the investment-type Youth Entrepreneurship Academy.
Applications and acceptance will close at 16:00 on February 12th, and the final results will be announced in mid-March after document review and presentation evaluation. After that, we plan to sign an agreement and provide full-scale support after the end of March.
◆ Global Entrepreneurship Academy (60)
The Global Entrepreneurship Academy (1 location, Seoul) provides support for commercialization funds (up to KRW 150 million, average of KRW 110 million), education and mentoring programs, and investment attraction support, as well as intensive support for customized incubation programs for each country of entry (North America, Asia, etc.) using global incubation institutions (accelerators).
In particular, starting this year, we will introduce an AI accelerator system and related specialized programs, and establish exchange programs with overseas startup incubation organizations such as the University of Chicago's Polsky Center to build a foundation for global expansion of startups operating in ultra-small and new industries.
The target of support is a start-up company that has been in business for less than 7 years and operates in a new or ultra-gap industry that hopes to enter the global market. This year, 60 companies are planned to be selected.
Applications and acceptance will close at 16:00 on February 12th, and the final results will be announced in mid-March after document review and presentation evaluation. After that, the agreement will be signed and full-scale support will begin after the end of March.
Kyung-won Cho, Director of Startup Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “Young startups are the key to leading the future of our economy, including job creation and economic innovation,” and added, “We will work to vitalize startups by young people with excellent technologies and promote their growth into global companies that advance into the world.”
