Healthcare company Skylabs announced on the 22nd that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with Japan's Otsuka Pharmaceutical for the overseas distribution of its smart ring-type blood pressure monitor 'CART BP pro' to hospitals.
Through this agreement, the two companies will begin full-scale cooperation to expand their presence in the global medical device market and strengthen the business-to-hospital (B2H) transaction model using Cart BP Pro. In addition, the two companies plan to conduct specific discussions on distribution in mutually agreed upon specific regions.
Sky Labs explained, “After reviewing several candidate companies, Otsuka Pharmaceutical was selected as the optimal partner.”
'Cart Bipi Pro' is a smart ring-type medical device for hypertensive patients that can monitor blood pressure fluctuations for 24 hours by wearing it on the finger. This product received medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2023, and in June 2024, it was recognized as a '24-hour continuous blood pressure monitoring' fee code (E6547) by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. In addition, its accuracy was proven through comparative clinical studies with existing blood pressure measurement methods (24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor, invasive arterial blood pressure measurement, standard auscultation method), and the research results were published in KCJ, Nature Science Journal, and Journal of the Korean Medical Association.
“Our collaboration with Otsuka Pharmaceutical has the potential to have a significant impact on hypertension patients around the world,” said Lee Byung-hwan, CEO of Sky Labs. “Through this collaboration, we will accelerate our entry into the global market and do our best to provide the best service to patients.”
