Able Labs selected as the host organization for the '2024 Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center'

Able Labs announced that it has been selected as the lead organization for the 2024 Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center (GITCC) project and will begin research to develop the next-generation organoid-based drug efficacy evaluation platform, 'NextGen OrganoidScan'.

This project will be conducted in collaboration with Able Labs, Qbit Bio, Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), and Johns Hopkins University (JHU), and is scheduled to start in August 2024 and run for a total of three years. If selected as an excellent project, it can be extended to 2029 with up to two additional years of support.

The 'NextGen OrganoidScan' platform aims to overcome the limitations of existing 2D cell culture-based drug efficacy evaluation systems and to create a system that can more accurately perform efficacy and toxicity evaluations in the early stages of drug development by utilizing 3D organoid models. To this end, it plans to dramatically improve the precision and reproducibility of drug evaluation by combining AI-based culture management, ultra-high-speed 3D imaging systems, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) monitoring technology.

Able Labs will collaborate with JHU to develop an AI-based culture and drug efficacy evaluation automation system, while Qbit Bio and GIST will provide an ultra-high-speed 3D imaging system based on Light Field Microscopy (LFM). The Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology will precisely analyze the physiological status and drug response of organoids using ROS monitoring technology.
