Kimlab Signs Business Agreement with Flip

Kimlab Inc. and flower subscription service company Flip Inc. announced that they signed a business agreement (MOU) with the goal of fostering professional florists and creating jobs for the hearing impaired. Under this agreement, a program that includes customized job training and psychological support programs for the hearing impaired will be piloted starting in the second half of this year.

The main program of this agreement consists of an educational course tailored to the characteristics of the hearing impaired, and is designed to enable learning of specialized knowledge and skills required as a florist, such as basic theories of flowers and plants, flower design practice, and store operation practice. In addition, psychological support such as stress management and burnout prevention will be provided by utilizing the expertise of Ewha Samsung Psychological Center, an affiliated institution of Kimlab.

Graduates who complete the course will be given the opportunity to be hired as regular florists for Flip Flower, Flip’s flower subscription brand. Flip plans to gradually hire hearing-impaired florists over the next three years, and will prepare various support measures to help them perform their jobs, such as building dedicated workspaces, deploying sign language interpreters, and introducing a visual work instruction system.

Kim Min-ji, CEO of Kimlab, said, “This agreement is a meaningful collaboration that helps the hearing impaired enter society and systematically supports their job adaptation through a psychological approach.” Park Gyeong-don, CEO of Flip, said, “The delicacy and concentration of the hearing impaired can create great synergy with the work of florists,” and added, “Through this agreement, we will present new possibilities for the flower industry as well as create jobs for the disabled.”
